Throughout this semester, I found enjoyment in analyzing and writing reviews about various works of art. I was able to dive into themes and perspectives, expanding my understanding and appreciation for different forms of art. For example, the review on Juice WRLD and the artwork of Annette Messager, as these work of art resonated with me on different levels. Writing about Juice WRLD’s music, particularly the song “All girls are the same,” gave me the opportunity to explore themes such as heartbreak, trust, and emotional vulnerability, which made me think that not many people realize that man can also go through the same pain and emotions that women go through. As thinking about the meaning of the song and finding value to the words said, I realized issue of relationships and the toxic nature that can sometimes arise. I began to recognize the importance of healthy, supportive partnerships and the impact they have on our emotional well being.
Additionally, I had the opportunity to examine the artwork of Annette Messager, specifically her piece titled “The sum of all parts.” This artwork made me see the beauty of diversity and the value of humans. Messager’s use of different body parts challenged the idea of what is traditionally considered beautiful and perfect. It made me realize the significance of embracing our differences. Analyzing these different types of art helped me grow personally. I became more empathetic, understanding emotions and the challenges of relationships. I also learned to question societal expectations and value each person’s “beauty”. Exploring the historical context and reading art critiques gave me a better understand to understand how society was back then and how it led to most of the stuff we end up seeing in todays’s society.
What I loved this semester the most was writing my own narrative surrounding my life, Writing the essay was an amazing experience for me. It made me realize how important it is to stand up for what I believe in and be true to myself. This paper helped me understand what I want for my future and who I want to be. I’m really proud of myself for writing it and trying to show who I am. I hope you understand that it might be a bit all over the place because I tried to include three different time periods in the story, kind of like that story about soldiers and a graveyard that inspired me. But I also wanted to show my own feelings and experiences. Writing the essay has helped me express my determination and the importance of never giving up. I’m ready to face any obstacles that come my way and prove to myself and others what I’m capable of. My dream is everything to me, and I won’t let anything or anyone stop me from being who I want to be. I will finish what I started and become the best version of myself.
